Can’t find any original holiday gifts for the foodie in your life? Need some stocking stuffers for your reading group? Or do you just like oatmeal? (And many of us do).
Well, now you are in luck. Haulin’ Oats, a gourmet oatmeal company from the Carmel Valley (by way of Tennessee), now sells its products here in Silicon Valley. And not only are Haulin’ Oats oatmeals local, they are made with organic and sustainable ingredients. Packaged in reusable Mason jars and featuring musical names like “Cinnamon Girl”, ‘Lavender Blue” and “Chai a Little Tenderness”, Haulin’ Oats, oatmeal makes for a fun, and tasty, gift. And with a variety of flavors with ingredients like pecans, ginger, cinnamon, coconut, dates, apricots and apples, your oatmeal will never be plain again.
And the Mason jars aren’t just for looks. You can add hot water, mix and eat all from the same jar. A bonus for those who want to take their oatmeal on the road, or make a quick snack in the office.
Haulin’ Oats was founded in California a few years ago by Tracey Levine. The business grew, but as part of a musical family Levine often found herself, and her oatmeal, in Nashville Tennessee. Eventually the Levines relocated. But music city’s gain wasn’t Califonia’s loss, as Carmel local Cindy Muscarello took over west coast operations of Haulin’ Oats. Now you can find Haulin’ Oats oatmeal at farmers markets throughout Tennessee but also high end spas like Ventana here in Northern California.
Until recently, Haulin’ Oats was mostly available via the internet (www.Haulin-Oats.com) or in retail locations in Monterey and Carmel. But now, just in time for the holidays, Haulin’ Oats expanded distribution into Silicon Valley and the city. In Silicon Valley you can find Haulin’ Oats at the Milk Pail Market in Mountain View and Sigona’s Markets in Palo Alto and Redwood City. In San Francisco you can find them at Small Foods Market.
